Army Athletics Association Dinner & Awards Ceremony (2022)

The Army Athletic Association Annual Dinner & Awards Night for the 2022/2023 season was held on Thursday 16th March 2023, following the Inter-Corps Cross Country Championships earlier in the day.

The evening brought together Army athletes, managers and officials from the “field of athletics” (track & field, cross country, road running) for a relaxed evening, giving recognition for sporting achievements throughout the summer and winter seasons and a chance to recognise the service of those who have made a contribution to the sport over both the short and medium term.

The Harrington Cup

The Harrington Cup was awarded to the young athlete who, whilst representing the Army, has achieved the best performance during the year in either Track & Field, Cross Country, Road Running or Marathon.

This year competition for this award was tight and two individuals could not be separated.

The award was presented to LBdr Ramsbottom & Lcpl Mason

The George Crump Award 

The George Crump award is awarded to the official, coach, manager or athlete who has contributed most to Army Athletics during the year in a managerial, administrative or coaching capacity.

This year the award was presented to two individuals who, in very different ways, have epitomised all that is good about Army sport and the willingness of some to go above and beyond to ensure that sport is made available to all.

The George Crump Award was presented to WO2 Dan Brown &  Ssgt Scott Caine.

Male Athlete of the Year

The Male Athlete of the Year award is awarded to an athlete who has made a significant contribution to Army Athletics across the season.

The Male Athlete of the Year for 2022 was awarded to SSgt Kim Bowling

Female Athlete of the Year

The award for Female Athlete of the Year is awarded to the female athlete, who, in the opinion of the Team Managers, has made the most significant contribution to Army Athletics during the year.

The Female Athlete of the Year award for 2022 was presented to Cpl Vickers.

The President’s Award

The President’s award is a special award which is awarded by the President or Chair to an individual or team who as made a notable achievement during the year.

The President’s Award was presented to Captain Joe Foreshew.  Joe has either participated in, supported, organised or lead Cross Country for over 26 years of his exemplary time in service.
